Notes

The sound is somewhat muddled during the first 2 minutes of "Unchained", then clears up for the rest of the set.
Outstanding front and back cover art. No inside artwork is available.
The CD's themselves are beautifully done as well, with each disc displaying a great stage shot of Ed on the left and the VH swirl logo in gold on the right. The 2 CD set comes in a thick, clear style double CD case.
Of special note, "Romeo Delight" is replaced by "I'm The One". And "Jamie's Cryin'" is also dusted off for the fourth time on the '98 Japan Tour. It's to be played only one more time in Yokohama several days later, the last date of the "3 World Tour".
"Somebody Get Me A Doctor" is given a somewhat elongtated and demented intro.
Gary intros "Year To The Day" by eloquently singing a song with the lyrics "I don't need a reason, to feel out of season..." These lyrics aren't part of any known Van Halen songs, and it's quite possible that they belong to one written by Freddie Mercury, given Gary's affinity for the band Queen.
Ed seems to take his time on his solo spot. He improvises a lot throughout each solo ("316", "Eruption", etc), adding a special touch to each one.
Prior to beginning "Josephina", Gary thanks the city of Morioka and informs all in attendance that they have been "the best audience in Japan so far". The crowd thanks him with a loud round of applause and screaming. If you listen closely, you can hear some audience members singing along to "Josephina", a rarity on the Japan tour.
Once again, Mike tells the crowd he thinks he has "shit his pants". This seemed to be the norm for him during the Japan tour.
Overall, a very great audience recording, the muffled 2 minutes at the beginning of Disc 1 aside. This is either a DAT or MD recording, due to the clarity in everything from audience noise to understanding what the band is saying. There is *lots* of audience participation, the most they encountered during this leg of the tour, so it's no wonder Gary complimented them earlier. A great 2 disc set.
