Van Halen Bootleg Discography
=============================
Last Updated: February 24, 2008 - 19:25:00 Central time
Notes about this Discography:
-----------------------------
o This Discography was started near the end of March 1994 by a member of the
Van Halen Mailing List (then at Cornell University) as a service to the
mailing list.
o I saw a need to list and keep track of all the Van Halen bootlegs that have
been issued over the years.
o This list is by no means complete and I rely upon other people to provide
information on the bootleg recordings that they have or have seen.
o Back in the beginning, this (text) version of this list was posted once
a week to the Van Halen Mailing List if there had been changes since the
last posting, but it eventually grew too big to be posted, so now it's
only available via on the web (http://www.vhboots.com/vh_boot_txt.html).
o I've tried to keep the titles in order, using the year of recording as
criteria.
o Mail submissions to: ron(at)vhboots(dot)com
or post them to the mailing list.

Note about the titles: Yes, there are two "USA 1986" recordings listed.
They look the same, but were released by different
companies. Maybe someone could compare the quality
of the recordings.
Yes, there are two "City Nights" recordings
listed. They are completely different shows.
Yes, there are two "Eruption" recordings
listed. They are completely different shows.
Yes, there are two "Live USA" recordings
listed. They are completely different shows.
Yes, there are two "Slummin' It!" recordings
listed. The Aces High one claims to be remastered.
Yes, there are two "Die Laughing" recordings
listed. The CD claims to be remastered from the LP.
Yes, there are two "Diamond Dave Goes Home Again"
recordings listed. One is 1 disc, the other is 2.
The following four (4) titles were re-packaged by an Australian distributor
(Apple Music House) and were being sold as a set. These discs appear to be
the same as the ones detailed in the Bootleg List with the exception of
Vol 1, which is the Dec. 20, 1977 show from the Pasadena Civic Center.
One Way to Rock (Vol 1) - Live in USA 1977
------------------------------------------

One Way to Rock (Vol 2) - Live in USA 1988
------------------------------------------

re-mastered and re-issued on these two discs. These are not authorized

b) The cover features a picture of the band (circa 1988).
c) The back cover features a picture of DLR in the left hand corner
(from the back of VH1 bending over backwards).
d) The inside of the front cover features 4 pictures of the band (split
into quarters circa 1995) inside the front cover is the song listings.
e) The sound quality is EXCELLENT and seems to have no *generation* loss.
Levels are peaked (but not distorted) and the sound is full and rich.
f) This is a class A production! No expense spared and no corners cut.
Sound is excellent and is recommended to everyone!
Van Halen Through The Years

15) Right Now 5:23
16) Feelin' 6:35
17) Can't Stop Lovin You 4:07
Total Time - 70:32
Notes:
a) The front and back cover is printed on parchment paper and is
in full color.
b) The front features a color picture of the band (circa 1986) and has
the *old* VH logo super-imposed over the picture.
c) The rear cover has a picture of the band (circa 1986) and has the
song titles super-imposed over the top 1/4 of the cover with a small
VH logo (early years) on the bottom left hand side. There is a UPC
code at the bottom right hand side and it claims that all the songs
are DDD (as opposed to ADD).
d) The inside front cover features small pictures (1 of Eddie and 2 of
Sammy) with the song listings but what's different is if you look
closely the whole inside front cover is a picture of Dave and Eddie in
concert (circa 1979). It also has a small discography at the bottom.
e) When you open the inside front cover it lists the songs again on the
left side and displays the VH logo on the right side.
f) The disc itself is a 2 shaded red disc.
g) The sound quality is EXCELLENT and seems to have no *generation* loss.
Levels are peaked (but not distorted) and the sound is full and rich.
h) Closer examination of the sound reveals that the audio has been retouched
by the addition of simulated stereo effects. While usually pleasing to
the ear, it would be hard to listen to with headphones. The beginning
of "Dance the Night Away" is where it is most noticable.
i) Track 9 (Jump) and Track 10 (Panama) a slightly combined. A mastering
mistake has Track 10 starting in the middle of Panama. The whole song
is there, but it starts inside Track 9. In addition, the beginning of
Panama is slightly messed up. That is the only flaw on this disc.
***

g) Tracks 10-19 are the original artists who performed the songs that Van
Halen covered on their first 6 albums. Sometimes more than 1 version
of a song was included when it appeared that a latter version was the

two adjacent tracks came from separate venues.
d) Disc 2, Track 3 is shown to be from "Jacksonville Coliseum - Jacksonville,

19) 1984 3:59
20) Jump 4:31
21) Happy Trails 1:57
Total Time - 74:40
Notes:
a) Very nice, glossy artwork.
b) The Front is a "Classic" Van Halen logo with flames flying in space.
c) The inside is the classic black stripes pattern like Eddie had on his
Guitar with a silver VH in the center. The track listing is inside in
red lettering which describes where every track was recorded at.
d) The Inside-Back is a picture Diamond Dave playing his "Davesickle"
acoustic Guitar that looks like an ice cream bar.
e) The Under-Disk picture is a group shot of Van Halen.
f) The Back has a group shot of Van Halen with the track listing on the
left hand side.
g) The Disc itself is a picture of M&M's with some brown ones included for
fun. For fans who know the story about the band not wanting any brown
M&M's backstage, this is sort of funny, in a classic VH kind of way.
h) Reunion II 2002 contains tracks from the original "Reunion" project that
didn't fit at the time onto the two 80 minute discs.
i) The songs on this disc represent classic Van Halen songs that a grouping
of fans said that they'd like to hear again, live in concert. These are
the best-known recordings of those tunes that were available at the time.
These songs were then digitally remastered. The combination of both the
Reunion & Reunion II disc sets, give the Classic Van Halen fan every
studio track performed live minus 6 studio tracks (Dirty Movies, Push
Comes to Shove, One Foot Out The Door, Big Bad Bill is Sweet William Now,
Top Jimmy & Drop Dead Legs). The original project did't have that in
mind per say, but with the addition of Reunion II, all studio tracks that
were played live in some form appear now with both sets.
j) All of the recordings are extremely good, and the transition between
songs is smooth. In some instances you never know that two adjacent
tracks came from separate venues. The remastering work is very good.
k) There are some amazing tracks in this project. Track 19 "1984", is an
extended four minute version of the song with Eddie playing keyboards and
Alex drumming along with him. This is the only known time this extended
version was played on the 1984 tour. Most of the songs here have been
heard before on one disc or another, but the 1984/Jump version is worth
getting, just for it being a rare look into the creative keyboard
fingering of Eddie Van Halen.
l) Tracks 8 & 9 are listed as coming from the Pasadena Community College,
Pasadena California - May 30th, 1976. The location and date for these
tracks is incorrect. They are from the Pasadena Convention Center,
Pasadena California - May 29th, 1976.
m) Released in February of 2002.
n) Great compilation and artwork. This is a definite must have for anyone.

Notes:
a) Originally called, "Yuletime Celebration".
b) Very nice, glossy artwork.
c) Cover shows Sammy Hagar on stage, arms flailing along with the title
and an older looking VH logo.
d) Rear artwork contains the same VH logo, but with a different look to it.
Sammy and Edward are on stage in a shot from 1995 behind a track listing
with running times. The picture is cool because it's a greyscale photo
with Sammy's shorts and Edward's guitar colorized.
e) The inside-back of the front cover has the sources for each track listed
plus two photos of the band. One is a promo shot from 1995 and the other
looks earlier.
f) Audio quality varies from track to track but overall is pretty good. The
transitions between tracks is smoothed out with some crossfading.
g) Released in August 2002.

Notes:
a) Disc 1 are the Early Studio Demos.
Glitter Demos (Unknown date) JS Remaster:
These are believed by some to be the earliest demos in circulation. They
were released via Dave TV on davidleeroth.com in 1998. Based on the age
and style of music, these could be Mammoth demos from very early,
however, a reliable source has put them as much later in VH's career
with "Kicks" possibly being from David Lee Roth's "Crazy From The Heat"
sessions. These are in a lossy format since they were released via the
Web site, and David Lee Roth has the masters.
1. Glitter
2. Kicks (Cover of Paul Revere and the Raiders)
3. Gentlemen Of Leisure
Cherokee Studios, Chatworth, CA (1974) JS Remaster:
These are rumored to be from 1973, but are most likely 1974 based on the
timeline of the band's development. It is also rumored that Mark Stone
was on the bass, but interviews place Michael Anthony in the band as
early as 1972, so it is unlikely. Another story says that when Michael
Anthony joined the band, they handed him this tape and told him to learn
the songs. David Lee Roth plays guitar on "Angel Eyes"
4. Angel Eyes
5. Believe Me
6. Simple Rhyme
7. Take Your Whiskey Home
Unknown 1975-1976 Demos (Unknown Date(s)) JS Remaster:
This is a band produced demo recorded at an unknown location. Possibly
the defunct Hound Dog Studios in Los Angeles or David Lee Roth's
basement. Tracks 8 and 9 are rumoured to be from the Pasadena Hilton.
8. Instrumental -- Guitar track of Edward messing around on guitar.
Features riffs from "Somebody Get Me A Doctor"
9. Talk -- Dave and the guys messing around with some women that were in
the studio.
10. Babe Don't Leave Me Alone
11. Fools
12. Ice Cream Man
13. She's The Woman
14. Woman In Love
Gene Simmons Demos Produced by Gene Simmons, Village Recorder Studios,
Los Angeles, CA/ Electric Ladyland Studios, New York City, NY 1976

and 8 from disc 2 are alternate takes from Wooda's master tape copy.

Pasadena Rehearsals (10/15/1977) Remastered by Wooda. Ain't Talkin' Bout
Love and On Fire from the rehearsals were often rumored to be takes from
the Gene Simmons Demos or Unknown Demo tracks. From Wooda's Master Tape.
Not really demos, but they've been included on other demo complilations,
so as not to have them "missing" they are included.

Notes:
a) Cover art is taken from the Red Vinyl promo Van Halen EP that was issued
by Warner Bros. before the first Album came out. You can still see the
hole in the middle where you would play the EP on a turntable.
b) The background image is of a purplish brick pattern. This pattern is
evident through the packaging. The discs have this pattern in a reddish
tone, and the liner notes have this pattern in a grayish tone.
c) The back cover reads:
Notes
This four CD set was compiled from hundreds of live and studio outtake
recordings. The material was digitally transferred from the original
master tapes or the lowest generation copies available. The transferred
material was then cleaned up using Sonic Solutions NoNoise process which
makes these CDs the best sounding of the type to date. It was produced
solely for archival purposes. We can be found at various VH locations
and gatherings throughout the Internet, and around the world. Just ask
around while surfing. "The Unreleased" is a Shaggster production, in
conjunction with No Bozos Records and 3M Productions. Special thanks
goes out to Mav (the originator), EdHead "The HEADCOUNT Guy", Fletch,
Rex Jackson, Gus "no faith" Compson, Corona, and Valerie "vavh" for
showing up on the list from time to time. Last, and by no means least,
extra thanks to the guys, Eddie, Alex, Michael, Dave, and Sammy, for
creating all this fantastic music for us. Peace out.

d) The "No Bozos" comes from a t-shirt design present on the RH:RN tour.
e) Each of the four discs are well labeled, with the Name, Volume Number
and Track Listing. They also say "Made in Canada".
f) The liner notes are well done, frequently stating where a particular
track was recorded and other notes about it, when known.
g) It was confirmed after these discs went to press that the first three
tracks on Disc 1 are NOT Van Halen (although there are still some that
believe it is). It was found out to be George Lynch's band (before
Dokken?). The fact that this is not Van Halen was confirmed by the
band themselves.
h) This four CD set was the creation of many people on the Van Halen
Mailing List. It took about 10 months to get the discs pressed, during
which time many people became fustrated with the process and made
threats against the person in charge of getting them pressed. All
was forgiven when the discs finally arrived.
i) The inital pressing was limited to 500 copies, but rumor has it that
the CD pressing plant (or someone involved with the process) has been
churning out more sets and that they can be found through "normal"
channels. However, the price tag on them is said to be more than 5
times what everyone else paid!

Notes:
a) Tracks 1 through 4 are from January of 1976.
b) Tracks 6 through 8 come from the "On Fire In Fresno" CD.
c) Tracks 9 through 11 have Mark Stone on Bass and are from 1974.
d) Tracks 12 through 18 are from 1976.
e) VooDoo Queen is misspelled twice on the back cover as "Vodoo Queen", but
is spelled correctly in the liner notes.
f) Called "Van Halen Studio Demos" on test pressings and came with plain,
typed inserts instead of the full color ones in this release.
g) The front cover shows a very young Eddie holding a bottle of (champagne)
with an open shirt (circa 1975)? Cover says "Demo Daze" in the right hand
upper corner with "Van Halen" in red letters in the center. Inside front
cover opens up with another picture of Ed in black satin wearing
sunglasses upside down and tounge sticking out. Below this is a picture
(circa 1979) of the band in the studio. Turning the cover over exposes
detailed liner notes with a picture of Michael in the background.
h) The back cover has a picture od Dave (circa 1976) leaning against a wall
with the words "Van Halen" above his head and the track listings to the
right of that.
i) The disc is dark blue with "74-76 D" on the bottom of the disc.
j) Most of this disc is soundboard but there are a couple of tracks that
are audience. Sound is at least comparible to "'77 + Live" disc.

Notes:
a) The set list on the back cover is the same as "DEMO DAZE", but is
incorrect and out of order. The above listing is correct. Most of the
disc is the same as DEMO DAZE with a few exceptions. "Take Your Whiskey
Home" and "Believe Me (Take It Back)" are repeated (different versions
of each), and "Walk Away" is missing.
b) The front cover is a picture of the band (1984) with a red circular VH
logo over the words "MAMMOTH DEMOS" in gray.
c) The back cover is a picture of Dave sitting sideways in a chair with the
set list to his right. Below the set list is a white circular VH logo
with the label "MAMMOTH SOUNDS".
d) The disc is silk-screened black with the words "TRADE MARK OF QUALITY"
around a pig.
e) Sound quality varies from soundboard A- to audience B.

Total Time - 54:07
Notes:
a) The cover shows Edward wailing on his black and white striped Kramer.
A very old Van Halen logo graces the upper left corner.
b) The inside of the 2 page cover shows a collage of older VH pictures,
along with a flyer from a show at the Goldenwest Ballroom. However, this
flyer is from an earlier performance of the band at that location on
March 13, 1976. The actual date of this particular show was May 9, 1976.
c) The backside of the cover has text on top of a picture of Alex pounding
out the beat to some tune. The text talks about the venue, the show and
how some of the songs done that night have never been released on LP or
CD (until now).
d) The rear cover shows an early pic of VH sitting in front of their
equipment, along with the track listing.
e) Called "Listen Up Shenkar" on test pressings and came with plain, typed
inserts instead of the full color ones in this release. "Shenkar" is a
reference to Michael Shenkar's band, UFO, which Van Halen opened for
that evening.
f) Track 2 is actually "I'm The One".
g) Track 10 is actually "We Die Bold".
h) Track 13 is actually "Oceanside".
i) "Last Night" is an early version of "Hang 'em High".
j) According to the back cover, Tracks 10 and 13 have never been released
on any VH Bootleg.
k) The sound quality is excellent for this very early recording. This is
a must have for any serious Van Halen fan.

a) Tracks 1 through 7 are from the GoldenWest Ballroom 5/9/76.
b) The GoldenWest Ballroom quality is about A- to B.
c) Tracks 8 through 11 are from The Starwood Club 6/1/76.
d) The Starwood Club tracks are great! "A" quality. The sound at times is
uneven, but all in all it stays very proportioned. No one instrument
takes over and muffles the others out.
e) Tracks 13 and 14 are from La Canada High School Feb 75.
f) Tracks 16 and 17 do not have a source listed. They are partial tracks
and are not noted anywhere on the CD packaging. They are also from
La Canada High School Feb 75.
g) The La Canada High School tracks are very bassy! The bass really muffles
the rest of the band. This show is probably a low B at best. Again, not
bad for 1975.

Notes:
a) Disc 1 is listed on the artwork as being from the Pasadena
Community College - Pasadena CA - May 30, 1976. It is in fact actually
from the Pasadena Convention Center - Pasadena, CA - May 29, 1976.
b) Disc 2 is listed as being from the Starwood - Hollywood CA - June 1, 1976.
c) Disc 2 Track 1 (On Fire) is the same track from Disc 1, but it's either
from a different source, or was edited to sound like it was from a
different source.
d) On Disc 2 Dave's rap at the end of Somebody Get Me a Doctor is the same
rap that was used to fill in after On Fire, again, to make it appear to
be from a different source.
e) Disc 3 Tracks 1 & 2 are listed as being from the Starwood - Hollywood CA
June 1, 1976.
f) Disc 3 Tracks 3 - 11 are shown as being from John Muir High School
Pasadena CA - 1975.
g) Disc 3 Track 12 is listed as an early Van Halen original from 1975.
h) Disc 3 Track 13 is a solo DLR song, which sounds like it was dubbed
from an episode of Dave TV off of the internet, and is listed as a
Van Halen original from 1975.

Notes:
a) Track 6 is listed as a new "Unreleased" Van Halen original. However, it
is a cover of a Robin Trower song by the same name.
b) Track 7 is listed as a new "Uncirculated" track. This track is a cover
of the Edgar Winter song by the same name.
c) All tracks are from the Pasadena Hilton in 1975 except for Track 10 which
is from the Pasadena Convention Center on May 29, 1976. This track, "I'm
the One", is from an alternate source and mix.
d) The audio is listed as a "stereo soundboard recording".
e) All artwork is very well done and contains photos of the band from the
early days.
f) The artwork incorrectly lists the show dates as June 15, 1976 for the
Pasadena Hilton portion and May 30, 1976 for Track 10, which is also
incorrectly listed as coming from the Goldenwest Ballroom in Norwalk, CA.
g) The artwork also indicates that this is "Van Halen Collection Issue #009".
h) Limited to 300 copies world wide.
i) Released in March 2003.

b) The audio on "Somebody Get Me A Doctor" fades a bit here and there.
c) "Let Me Swim" includes a Drum Solo by Alex.
d) There is a quick edit between Track 6 and Track 7.
e) The transition between Track 9 and Track 10 makes it seem like everything
from "La Grange" onward is taken either from a different source or from
a different show.

c) Incorrectly listed as "Pasadena Community College" and "May 30, 1976"

d) Low generation, maybe a 1st gen. The highs are all there. There may have
been some equalization or noise reduction done. This is much better than
the "Just Before The Eruption" title.
e) Track 6 (Let Me Swim In Your Ocean) is cut after drum solo.
f) Track 9 (In A Simple Rhyme) is cut.
g) Track 10 (La Grange) has Dave's talking cut.
h) Track 12 (Guitar Solo) is cut.
i) Track 13 (House Of Pain) has the tail end cut.
j) Track 14 (Fools) is cut in the middle.
k) This is a great show. Too bad there's a multitude of cuts. The cuts are
either of the songs themselves or Dave's rapping in between the songs. The
"Story of Joe" during "Fools" was also cut.
l) Released in January 2005.

c) This show smokes all other versions you will find. Unlike "The Eyes Of
Night", this show is complete and not spliced together from other club
days shows, and the sound is amazing.
d) The date and location have been reported wrong for years. The show was
played on Saturday May 29th, 1976 and not Sunday May 30th, 1976.
e) The band plays an extremely energetic set, and even hint about hearing
the day we would all hear their songs on the radio. This is a must have
show.
f) Transferred, edited and brought to you by Wooda and LIVE1 Productions.
g) Cover shows the band against a police height backdrop. The City of
South Pasadena logo appears in the upper left corner.
h) The inside of the cover shows a crinkled copy of the handbill for
the show.
i) The back cover has a light gray background. The track listing appears
in black text at the bottom and a South Pasadena Police patch is shown
at the top.
j) The under-tray photo is of a young Edward in fromt of a panelled wall.
The old Van Halen logo appears in white on black in the spine area.

big drum solo in the middle, a guitar solo with parts that Eddie didn't
do after 1976, and a preview of the "Story of Joe" which would be told
at most of the 1979 shows. Dave prattles away between the songs and
explains the idea behind a lot of them. For example, "Babe, Don't
Leave Me Alone" and "Eyes of the Night".

b) Quality: B-
c) Tracks 1-3 of Disc 1 are from set number one.
d) Tracks 4-12 of Disc 1 are from set number two.
e) All of Disc 2 is from set number three.
f) This was taken mostly from one tape, however the "Slow Ride" fragment
comes from another tape. The main tape for this had an obvious splice
between "Last Child" and "Live For The Music".
g) Quality of the analog source is roughly comparable to that of "Covers
Band from Pasadena". However, the tape did not continously get slower as
with that title. The speed was slow on the tape, but it was a constant
speed except for the end of "Walk This Way" where you can hear it get a
little slower. Side 2 of the tape began with "Superstition" and the speed
from there on out was again constant. Most importantly, this is about 13
minutes longer than "Covers Band." It includes "You Really Got Me", the
aforementioned "Slow Ride" fragment, "Happy Trails", and "D.O.A". There
are a couple of minor cuts in "Last Child" and "Keep Playing That Rock
and Roll", as well as a minor cut in the talking between "Walk This Way"
and "Superstition".
h) From the sounds of things, Van Halen did at least 3 sets that night. The
tape begins towards the end of Set I with "You Really Got Me" as the
closer. "Last Child" apparently opens up set two. Set 3 begins with
"Still Alive And Well." Dave's talking leads to this conclusion.
i) Released in May 2005.

Notes:
a) The front cover is a picture of Dave (1984 era).
b) The inside front cover is a picture of Eddie playing White/Black
stripped guitar in black leather pants.
c) The back cover is a picture of all 4 in a dressing room (obviously
after a show 1979 era) w/a purple band at the top that say's
"Recorded Live At Aeros Bogarts, San Bernadino, California 1976".
The rest of the back cover has a black background w/ the picture as
described above w/ track listings below.
d) The inside back cover (under the CD) is a picture of Dave, Mike and
Ed on stage (1982 era).
e) The disc itself is Silver/Black w/"Halen Bros" on the silver side in
red ink and "Ready Go" in silver ink on the black side.
f) THIS SHOW IS DIGITALLY RE-MASTERED !!!
Since the initial recording was done on a recorder that the batteries
were getting weaker as the show went on; each song was digitally speed
corrected and then the whole show put back together.
No tape hiss, everything is eq'd.
g) The recording is a pretty good audience recording from that era.
You can hear people talking at times, but mostly in between the songs.
A couple pieces sounded like it needed to be spliced together but
overall an excellent recording from that time.
h) Track 3 is not an "intro". It's just Ed & Mike fiddling around with
their instruments while the others get ready.

Notes:
a) AMAZING sound quality!
b) Many people have heard the two tracks from this demo, "House Of Pain" and
"Runnin' With the Devil", and have commented that the tone is very
different than the WB demos and eventual pressed versions. This is
extremely evident throughout this set of demos. Eddie's guitar tone is
far from what it was to become and there are several instances of
multiple guitar overdubs. In some cases, there are as many as three
guitar tracks at one time and some solos are actually laid over one
another at times.
c) Dave's vocal delivery is dramatically different on many tracks such as
"Babe, Don't Leave Me Alone" and "Somebody Get Me a Doctor".
d) The art work is lackluster at best, taken from the van-halen.com website
photo files and squeezed into a template (see images).
e) The front cover art is the Flyin' Eddie shot taken from the van-halen.com
site from the 1981 Stones gig.
f) The back is a shot of Eddie circa 1986, sitting on the drum riser
finishing his guitar solo.
g) The inner cover art (if you want to call it that) is a shot of Alex
behind the kit circa 1988.
h) The disc artwork is a shot of Dave from the California Girls video (black
and yellow overalls) with a babe at his side, but the ink is smudged and
smeared. The disc is printed with a low-cost CD-R printer.
i) "Runnin' With the Devil" is slightly different that the version that
normally follows "House of Pain" on the other boots. This version starts
with the band singing the chorus in the fourth measure of the song,
before any of the verses are sang.
j) There are a few very slight, almost unnoticeable drop-outs in a couple
spots of the disc. Also, there are two strange skips in "Let's Get
Rockin'" where about three seconds of a phrase is back tracked and
repeated.
k) Track 3 is listed as, "House In Pain", on the artwork.
l) Track 6 is listed as, "Lady Loose", on the artwork.
m) Dave noticeably sings Track 7 as "Big Troubles".
n) Track 9 is listed as, "Baby Don't Leave Me Alone", on the artwork.
o) All in all, 4.99 out of 5! A recording that puts the WB Demos on "Looney
Tunes" and "Blueprint" boots to SHAME! Even the "masterered" tracks on
"Looney Tunes" don't have the crisp, clear sound that these tracks have.
p) In May 2002 the errors on this disc were corrected by a member of the Van
Halen trading community. Also at that time new artwork was created for
it.

Notes:
a) The first 10 tracks are the same Gene Simmons demos that were released
in the spring of 2002 as "Zero". They are a direct copy of the fixed
disc of "Zero" that was circulated in the Van Halen trading community.
b) Tracks 11-21 are from the Civic Auditorium in Pasadena California on
February 8, 1978. Possibly taken from the same source as sides 3 & 4
of "Simple Rhymes".
c) Front cover shows a picture of the band relaxing in British garb with
an orange colored VH logo at the top and the name of this disc along the
bottom over a background of black with gray stripes.
d) Back cover shows the band on stage with the track listing over the same
black background and gray stripes.
e) The inside front cover shows a classic picture of the band in the studio
which is strewn with beer cans and general chaos. Below that picture is
some text which describes the Gene Simmons Demos which make up the first
10 tracks of this disc.
f) The undertray artwork has Dave showing off on a skateboard.
g) The disc is aqua text on a black background.
h) Sound quality of the first 10 tracks are the same "Zero", which is
excellent.
i) Sound quality of the 1978 show (tracks 11-21) is variable, but generally
pretty good for a live recording from that era.
